So much!

I have so much going on right now. Kind of. Okay, a lot of the things are lame.

I got my TB test today and it wasn't bad at all. I hate needles and this was fine. I just have to go back Monday morning to get the results.

Next week begins tutoring. I haven't woken up at 9am in a long time. Well, I did it today but promptly went back to bed when I came home. Though I didn't come home for a little bit. I actually went to the library, picked up two books (Freakonomics and Buildings Across Time), and had some French toast sticks from Sonic.

Progress: read Ch. 1; haven't started

Progress: ate 2 for breakfast, 2 slices for lunch because I'm weird like that.

I tried to read for my Race and Ethnic Relations class, but I only got through 2 chapters and the 1st section of 3 of 6 chapters. I still have to read about Asian-Americans, white ethnic minorities, and Jewish peoples. I really don't know why I read the African-American section considering I knew quite a bit there... :/ I just want to make sure there isn't a lot I'm missing though.

Anyways, I did most of this after I woke up, ate at Apollo Flame (eggplant parm) with Yancey, Sarah, and Stephen, and watched two movies ("Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" and "Zach and Miri Make A Porno") and two TV shows ("House, M.D." and "Lie to Me"). Gah, I should not multitask...

Both amazing! I loved Nick & Norah's more, but this is because I saw the latter at the theater with someone ugh.

They were pretty okay. Won't become my fave though.

Okay, so tomorrow, I must finish reading and then polish/make posters for/make script for my lesson plan on economics. The script may need to wait till Sunday though. My readings for Early Modern Britain will begin and end Sunday night.

Next week, I present my first 20 min lesson plan, pray that my student teaching placement goes well and I can begin observing, tutor, write a paper on Black Like Me, and try to read the books I have on hand.

Did I mention I went back to the library after our late lunch/dinner to nab Mary & Russel Wright Guide to Easier Living? It was delivered finally and I wasn't expecting so many words!

Progress: read a few pages and will finish chapter 1 ASAP

Also, I'd like to watch movies and shows on Netflix. Tomorrow, I get "The Ultimate Gift" in the mail. I turned in the last movie Thursday and already I'm getting my new one tomorrow! Yay! I would like to finish "Dead Like Me" season 2 sometime soon also.

So much I want to do and need to do yet not enough time. I realized I like staying up late and waking up early, which means I don't get to sleep much. :( Usually, I still stay up late and don't end up waking early.

Okay, less blogging, more reading/watching.

Me and art and work

This web site is pretty fun and I think they know me, my art style and what I should do with my life. :) Here's my personality style. I like them because I agree but I doubt it's 100% correct of course.

Youniverse Personality TestYouniverse Personality Test

In my schedule book, I'm supposed to read a bunch of chapters for Race & Ethnic Relations. Not happening. I need to sleep. I'm tired and had to wake myself up from a nap to shower. 8:45am TB test... yeah, :(. I'll do some homework afterwards to catch up.

Actually, I've worked super hard on my lesson plan on "demand," which my prof really liked and approved. Yay! :) I just have to write the script and make some posters since I can't use the whiteboard. :/ I was really meant to become a teacher (that's what youniverse.com suggested too). I want to work with people to plan though. Otherwise, it's boring.

I've decided not to eat out for the next few days... until February. Haha. I know that's sad because there are only a few days left. I need to clean and make spaghetti. This is hard though because that's all we have... spaghetti. I want udon and sushi. Crap. I spend way too much $$$ though. I want donuts.

Cravings...

Two days in a row of McDonald's. :/ I need real food. I had some shrimp tempura udon from Green Tea with Alex yesterday. That was so good!

Last time, I posted a list of books I wanted. I purchased Domino: The Book of Decorating: A room-by-room guide to creating a home that makes you happy by Deborah Needleman. I also borrowed I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence by Amy Sedaris and Western Ranch Houses by Cliff May from the library. The former was too wordy for me and not what I expected, and the latter was a really informative history of Cliff May houses and ranch style. I guess I'm a history major so I enjoyed it quite a bit. :)

Still left -

  • Atomic Ranch
  • Little Boxes: The Architecture Of A Classic Midcentury Suburb by Rob Keil
  • My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living by Jonathan Adler
  • Apartment Therapy Presents: Real Homes, Real People, Hundreds of Design Solutions
  • The Nest Home Design Handbook: Simple ways to decorate, organize, and personalize your place by Carly Roney
I added a few more of course!
I've gone to bookstores two days in a row also. I like Barnes and Noble more than Books A Million because the latter's lighting blinds me. They have really super dim lighting. I hate that.

2 cups of tea...

I got my placement. FINALLY. One of my bottom 3 schools, but at least it was the best of the 3. There are a few good things about this placement:
  • 1) I think I got an amazing teacher. He's the department chair and someone is student teaching for him now. However, that was the e-mail and name I got so I suppose he is being amazing and taking me in. I feel like a homeless person. :/
  • 2) He teaches U.S. history. I know this because I know the student teacher he has now. I can handle U.S. history best.
  • 3) The school is close to the house. Yay!
So now I can actually do my homework and research! I guess that's good. Writing this micro-teach lesson plan is hard. :/ I have my meeting with my prof tomorrow to go over it since he canceled our meeting today. :(

Tutoring starts next week. I have to get my schedule straight. Right now, for Thursday, I don't have class till 4:35pm and my meeting is at 4pm. Friday I have to get my TB test at 8:45am. :(

Jessica brought me Twinings Indian Spiced Chai tea. I've never had it before and I still haven't tried it. We're out of milk because I indulged in my expensive love for Tazo Organic Chai. I mix it cold. I don't drink coffee. I like chai. I also don't like tea much, but I've had it quite a bit lately.

Speaking of tea... I shouldn't even say, but I will.

I didn't hate freshman year, but I don't want to relive it. We don't all hang out anymore for a reason. We don't really like each other all that much... any of us who aren't part of that crowd anymore. It's not even that I've made newer friends. I just don't consider them really friends but rather acquaintances. You know that quote,

Don't Worry About The People From Your Past There's A Reason They Didn't Make It To Your Future.

"Without A Paddle: Nature Calling" was terrible despite the fact that Oliver James was in it. :( I loved him in "What A Girl Wants" and he is just as hot. This time, he doesn't have a British accent, and he's British.

"Without A Paddle: Nature Calling" trailer

Oliver James in "What A Girl Wants," one of my favorite movies!

I found out this morning

Domino is folding. What now? I never subscribed. Well, actually, I just did because I got my free subscription with my book. :/ I was really looking forward to it.

This gives me a "seize the day" mentality because I loved it and never got it!

All the covers

Will someone buy me the back issues? All of them?

Achy breaky

1) Saturday was cool. That afternoon, Yancey and I wanted to eat a late lunch, which ended up being our dinner of course. We had no idea where to go but a few texts and calls and we got Liz, Emily, Alex, and Stephen to join us. Yancey got no calls back from his friends. Okay, he did, but they were all working. Psh. We ate at Early Girl Eatery. I was so hungry and so fulfilled by my Sweet Potato Black Bean cakes. Yeah, weird but absolutely yum. I also realized I hate biscuits and gravy, but I enjoy biscuits with jam. Their food was delish and the place was cute. It's on the best street in Asheville, Wall Street. If every road looked like that, we'd be living in England! Haha.

From the tiny storefront, you could never tell that their dining room was so large!

(via Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project)

Look at their glasses! So vintage-like.

(via their web site)

After dropping Liz and Em off, we did homework till late. I didn't realize it was so late. Jessica came over and Yance, Jessica, Emily, and I went out at 11pm. We headed to Hannah's because they haven't been there. Then to Thirsty Monk to meet Conor and his friends Liz and Bron (weird name, cool guy). I always get a little tipsy at Thirsty Monk. I love that place. This is recent since I only started liking beer in November.

2) Last night, Sunday, we watched the WEC fights. Faber won as I mentioned. Dan Lauzon won the night before and I finally got to watch it online. Because we don't have cable, we went over to Sarah's dorm with Yancey's TV (not the huge one but a fairly large 30" one) and Chinese food. It was like a quick party. Haha.

3) Yoga and aerobics kicked my butt today. My back hurt after. I feel good, but it hurts and I'll feel it tomorrow. The chick at Subway's hates her job for sure. I'm forcing myself to stay up because it's fun to do that, but I'm rather sleepy. Oh yeah, I went to Subway instead of somewhere else I was supposed to go because well, I'm annoyed by a certain someone and no one else wanted to come with. Actually, because I didn't want to go, my friends didn't go.

My unfinished lesson plan (due next Tuesday but I have a meeting with my prof this Wednesday) is already 6 pages with just the input. I don't even know if it's possible to get all that stuff done.

My teaching strategies are done. Tomorrow is going to suck. I'm waking up in less than 5 hours to go to a meeting from 8-9am then I plan on coming home for a nap till noon. I will make sure to cut my student teaching application and go over my six teaching strategies so I can teach them to my classmates. Crap, that's a lot. I'll need the nap. Maybe? No no, I won't take a nap. I'll just drown myself in ice coffee tomorrow.

Good idea: take laptop to school, do homework, go to class till 8:30pm, and get drinks with friends at TGI Fridays. I will then promptly go to bed when I come home. Ahhh, we'll see. I may really need the nap. I haven't slept for only 5 hours in FOREVER. Maybe I have when I sleep at 5am and wake up at 10am. Huh... quite true. Let's do it!

I love this web site/project and wish I loved someone more than _____.

Well, this is good response to that (above):

Fave UFC fighters

Since I wrote down my favorite WEC fighters, I thought I should put up my favorite UFC fighters. In no particular order and not all of them with pictures...

Nate Diaz, there's something about him I just like (2nd from left)

Rob Emerson especially after his fight and killing of Manny G. but then laughing at his nickname, "The Saint"

Roger Huerta is the poster boy for the UFC
Joe Lauzon (on the right with his dad and brother Dan!)

Watching Brock Lesnar
Cole Miller (right) and his brother Micah (on the left), who isn't part of the UFC

BJ Penn (on the right with J-Lau on the left)

GSP (Georges St-Pierre)
Joe "Daddy" Stevenson
"Handsome" or "Mildly Attractive" Matt Wiman (on the right)

Others I can't seem to find/affiliate with anyone:
War Machine (formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver)

Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez (between Nate Diaz and Jake Shields)

Micah Miller (see above with brother Cole)
KJ Noons

Jake Shields (on the left and Nate Diaz on the right)

Dan and Urijah in one weekend!

I missed the Dan Lauzon fight last night. Yancey didn't tell me about this. Though I probably should've known. :( Watch it here! It might take a minute though. :/ He got kicked in the groin three times. Some people thought he was just being a baby, but though his opponent got 2 points taken off, the points became irrelevant when D-Lau submitted him. :)

Affliction is newer. They have signed some cool fighters. D-Lau was somewhat presented unfairly on the TapOut series so he now fights for Affliction.

I've never seen this video of D-Lau and his brother Joe. Love them!

Tonight was the rematch between Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver. Faber won easily. Though I think the guy who did the post-fight interview was a jackass for asking Pulver if he thought he was still "relevant" in the game. :/

The other awesome fight was between Jamie Varner and Don Cerrone. I thought Varner was hotter/Jake Shields. :/ Well, he wasn't yet I still wanted him to win. Though "The Cowboy" had a head of steel. He was hit so many times and had bubbles forming but never gave up. He was even more aggressive. Varner actually got kneed in the head and the fight was stopped at the beginning of the fifth round. The fans were upset with Varner and booed him for not continuing. We thought the fight was fantastic and they were both extremely tired. Varner wanted to continue fighting I'm sure. He cried and it was sad.

Interviews from the fights are up here.

My favorite WEC fighters:
1) Urijah "The California Kid" Faber

2) Carlos Condit despite his ever erect and pink nipples...

3) "Razor" Rob McCullough whom Peter met and changed his tires for!

And... I don't like him but he has the coolest name, Richard Crunkilton, Jr.

Ch-ch-check it out!

New and old blogs I like:

I would like Fridays if Fridays liked me.

Fridays hate me. Scheduling all morning. "Sex and the City" and nap during the late afternoon. Not much else. No homework was done. How sad. :(

1. Oh, I am so emotional!
2. Weather changes, big and little.
3. During the week, I sleep in a lot. I need tutoring ASAP.
4. Local high school; are you kidding me? Take me!
5. Right now I'd like to be sure about her student teacher placement and busy.
6. The TV is my favorite gadget.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to napping, tomorrow my plans include homework and Barnes & Noble and Sunday, I want to not do homework but will!

I love scheduling. Is that weird? I like the control when my life is out of control sometimes.

Of course, I also did lots of blog searching.

#1. Redone dressers

(via Making it Lovely and More Ways to Waste Time)

#2. Globes everywhere. I'm a history major so of course I love this!

(via AT: SF)

#3. Not Ikea awesome reclaiming of furniture. Buying off Craigslist, Amazon, and eBay is hot and This is Not Ikea does it too.

(via AT: LA)

#4. I've fallen in love with galley kitchens! Mid-century mod in an Oregon setting is yum.

(via AT: SF)

#5. I've seen lots of artwork and prints. I can never find something I can absolutely love. Maybe some classic Sunset Magazine cover posters?

Twenty-Something (or less)

I got tiramisu at Old Europe at 10pm and watched "Sex and the City" with Jessica until just now. 6 episodes and I still have the rest of it to go. Class at 4pm tomorrow.

Classes were okay. I keep waking up around 11am, slowly getting dressed, and make it to school where I sit for a couple of hours before class. Today, I just went to school, watched "Dead Like Me" on Netflix, and read for my education class. I'm still not done. I hate reading about teaching sometimes. I have no input because we've read and learned about all this before. Furthermore, I feel like I have little to say in my "Race and Ethnic Relations" class. Or maybe I have lots to say, but I know I'll contradict myself. The topic is so hard. :/

I met someone awesome months and months ago and somehow they're still on my mind. Normally, I would be over and out but because I never see the person - we communicate other ways - I'm kind of, sort of still enamored. Mostly, I think I'm enamored by the idea. Also, I'm high off "Sex and the City" and love love love/boys boys boys.

Anyhow, I need to get back on track for tutoring and observations (no placement yet). Last class of the week tomorrow! Lots of movies and TV shows to watch and I'm trying to find books to read, but I'm not motivated. I read a whole book last weekend and I'm thumbing slowly through Barack Obama's biography, but I'm just not satisfied with my book selections. I really want to read Knit Two!

Have I mentioned that the last couple of weeks, my already terrible skin became completely dry? I would remedy this by putting on St. Ives Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer and it hurt? I braved through the pain and after applying it several times a day, especially post-shower when my skin just dried out, my face feels better! :)

My skin isn't amazing, but I've gotten much better with it and I fixed my dry skin right?! I decided to share what I do daily. (P.S. I just lotion my body in the morningtime. I hate the feel of sticky lotion, no matter how unsticky you say it is, after a shower.)

In the morning, I throw cold water on my face and rinse easily with Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. I then apply Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer generously. My makeup really helps - Bare Escentuals appears to keep my face smooth all day. Eye makeup by whatever brand as long as it's brown. I choose brown because I have a tendency to wipe my eyes and this at least blends with my skin and eye makeup (golds to keep it natural). I use a stick not liquid eyeliner also. Slap on some ChapStick and I'm done.

I shower at night, rinse my hair with cheap Suave or V05 shampoo and conditioner (sometimes conditioner). I used to only shower at night, but lots of classes and work made me fall asleep when I got home at 9pm and wake up at 4am to shower. I also used to wash my hair everyday despite all these articles saying that I shouldn't. With the loss of my night showers and the practice on weekends, I beat washing my hair everyday to every other day. This is especially good in the winter. I still do most of my showering at night where I straighten my hair after I towel dry (and sometimes blow dry). I use Remington's Wet2Straight, but I have rather manageable, normal hair.

As for my skin in the shower, I use a Dove Beauty Bar in Cool Cucumber because my mom provided me with tons of them. It's good and easy though. I wash my face with something a little more potent in the shower - either Shiseido Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam or Philosophy's Purity. I've used Shiseido for a year and I'm moving onto Philosophy, but I still have some of the former left. Clearly, that's my splurge.
Okay, now for bed. :)

Astro-love-ogy.

I'm going to pop in "The Wackness" even though it's getting later and later as I surf the web.

Jessica and I checked out this web site today. Haha. Well, I love their little compatibility comments for me and other signs.

Cancer

Your sensitive nature can be difficult to deal with. You are often misunderstood at an emotional level You need a mate that can understand your tenderness. You match up you your own sign and the other eleven as follows.

CANCER & ARIES: - This is not a very good combination for you. The Ram's lack of tact and their hot temper is just too devastating for your sensitive and insecure nature. Oh, I met one of these and regret much of this experience. What a womanizer. As friends, I think Aries are alright.

CANCER & TAURUS: - The Bull is one of your best partners. You are both homebodies who appreciate good food, good quality and thrift. You can keep each other quite happy. Truly an enduring relationship. Van, one of my good friends from home, is a Taurus! I have a few Taurus friends I think or at least nurture them to become better friendships.

CANCER & GEMINI: - The Twins play too many mind games for your soft and innocent approach to life. Gemini's flirtatious free-spirited nature is just too hurtful for you to have to deal with. Yancey and I wouldn't make a good couple. Thank goodness! Kris is a Gemini too? But Kris isn't as mean as my roomie. Hah.

CANCER & CANCER: - Together you are far too negative for this union to work. Emotional problems will exist throughout the entire relationship. Neither one of you has the ability to see the positive side to the relationship. Alex, my amazing and understanding psychologist, and I apparently wouldn't make much of a couple. I'm not into chicks anyways, but I can now understand how we can share so much.

CANCER & LEO: - The Lion needs to be the center of attention, therefore you will often feel quite neglected in this relationship. You have a tendency to nag and that will drive a Leo mate on to greener pastures. Sorry Liz. Though I don't feel any way neglected. Strangely, Liz's best friend from home, her boyfriend, and I (we're like super tight if you read my blogs) are all Cancers...

CANCER & VIRGO: - This partnership lacks excitement, to say the least, however that doesn't usually matter to either you or your mate. Security and the home are much more important to both you and the practical Virgoan. Awww, I found a pretty cool guy who fits the bill. Not like it's going anywhere but... yeah. I can see how this could lack excitement though. My other friend who is a Virgo is awesome, but he just drinks a lot. Not much fun I guess.

CANCER & LIBRA: - Your mood swings are far too upsetting for the Scales. Libra Needs harmony and a variety of entertainment which really isn't your style or your intent. You create melodrama at an emotional level and would prefer to stay at home where it's safe and secure. Kim is like Switzerland - neutral whereas I am an emotional time bomb?

CANCER & SCORPIO: - You are both too possessive that can and usually does lead to problems at some time. As long as you deal with these issues promptly you can have a happy, satisfying and loving union. Jessica must be my new-found soul mate! Erin too! I also read a friend's blog and we seem to have a lot in common so this all makes sense! Although I'm sure one of my Scorpio friends isn't someone I'd consider my soul mate.

CANCER & SAGITTARIUS: - The Archer is too worldly for you. You don't like to take risks and Sagittarians thrive on chance. This is not your best bet for a lasting union but it is one that often attracts you. One of my best friends if not the best friend, Peter, is a Sag. He is too crazy for me.

CANCER & CAPRICORN: - Polar opposites, Usually there is a lot of chemistry, but the Goat does not usually have the time to show you enough affection. If you can put up with their workaholic ways you can rest assured that you will be well-taken care of financially.

CANCER & AQUARIUS: - You are far too sensitive for the Water-bearers aloofness. Aquarians cannot tolerate your need to cling to them. I wonder if I cling to Bonnie. I do cling to my fave ex-co-tutor because he is the awesomest person and he's a cutie too.

CANCER & PISCES: - You and the Fish are probably the two most sensitive signs of the zodiac. Although you can comprehend one another you can also play emotional games and hurt each other. This connection can work if you communicate openly and honestly. I'm looking at facebook and their list of birthdays and wondered how crazy it is for my friend Stephen to have dated a girl with his same birthday! Wow. I'm definitely honest with Stephen. He's like my big bro.

I don't know how much I believe in this stuff, but it's fun especially when Jessica and her fiance have such good ones! :/ I want good ones with... well, no one right now, but the next guy!

Also, I LOVE that Courtney Love and I share the same birthday, but so does Tom Hanks! :)

Do you believe in astrology?

Who isn't excited?!

Not even I, the apathetic, can stand to sit still for tomorrow's inauguration. This is quite exciting. Everyone is hyped and I'm ready to see what happens. I have no doubt this is a good thing. Even I must care about our country.

Jessica made my weekend. Bonnie too. They came to visit last night then Jessica and I went to her place to pick up things, the store, and Blockbuster for a movie where we saw Morgan, the birthday boy! We ended up getting "Ghost Town" because the people working there, Yancey's co-workers, snatched "My Best Friend's Girl" from my hands and put it back. Hahaha. Apparently, they don't like Dane Cook. Before watching the movie, I got some French toast at Denny's... hadn't eaten all day!

Today, we made Hunter's chicken. I'll post the recipe when I get it, but I didn't make much of it. Jessica did. It was delicious and I promised her and Yance apple chimicheesecakes next week! We tried to do our own palm reading and astrology. Apparently, we as Cancer and Scorpio get along. However, Yancey and I, as Gemini and Cancer, do not. Wait, that was only as lovers. Haha. I couldn't find a friend compatibility web site.

Anyhow, we watched "Pineapple Express," which I picked up on my second trip to Ingles because we forgot the white cooking wine. I still have "The Wackness," which I got because I absolutely love Josh Peck from "Drake & Josh." Yance and I had watched "College" this past week, a movie that stars Drake Bell from the same show. I was all for the bad guy though because I absolutely love Nick Zano!

I finished Black Like Me! I'm not sure if we have reading for my sociology class this week. The syllabus is weird. Anyways, since my hair is still wet, I might pop in "The Wackness." No class till 3pm, but I have to print something out for my class.

No more chocolate and blue

I went to one of my first non-family weddings. The colors: chocolate and blue. Classy, but I'm ready for some fun. What about pink and green? Oh no, they've become "preppy."

One of my friends, who just got engaged!, chose a purple but not lavender. Instead, she chose a dark purple, which I absolutely adore! I've never been a fan of pastels, mostly because I consider them somewhat safe and bland.

Since it's wedding bonanza around here, I'm frequenting The Knot and found their list of hot wedding color combos!

Aqua & charteruse

Blush & mauve

Garnet & tangerine

Lavendar, cream, & chocolate

Fuschia & navy

Lemon & celadon

Hm, I'm sensing colors closer to each other on the color spectrum rather than complementary colors! I'm not sure which is my favorite or if I absolutely love any of them. But I love the freshness of the colors!
