Bad fights, good people.

Fight night! Photos!

Okay, it was a crappy fight night. Anderson Silva fought badly. It was boring. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell lost. :( Mildly unattractive Matt Wiman lost. He is now mildly unattractive because he has weird hair and a beard.

RIP Mask of TapOut

Yance barely flinched an eye, but I can't stop looking up information on the death of "Mask," one of the three founding members of TapOut. I guess I'm checking to make sure it's real.

Winning the Innovator Entrepreneur award in 2008

Not only do I see him on a show that I really enjoy and at all the events, but his death occurred in Newport Beach, California, near my hometown and on streets I have probably passed.

The most horrific thing was the look of his car. In the image below, you can see that a pole split the car in half. Sorry for the graphic images.

According to reports, he was racing. Despite all the comments about him "deserving" it for racing, I don't think anyone deserves such a death. He wasn't drunk, he never did physically harm someone else, and he made a big impact in MMA that us fans should appreciate.

RIP Charles "Mask" Lewis, Jr.

A little brighter today

Last night's fights at Hooter's were devastating. No more fights for awhile cause I get stressed out and heartbroken. Not only did Nate Diaz lost to Fabio (in a pretty good fight), BJ Penn just laid there as GSP beat him for four rounds! :( My hair also smelled like smoke all last night. :/

I want food. Good food. I may go over to Jessica's where her apartment complex has a little Super Bowl party with food. I don't really care for the Super Bowl or its ads.

My lesson plan on demand is done! :) I just have some reading for British history that I will save for later. I was also smart enough to clean my room and do laundry this afternoon. It's not done yet though, and I'm wondering if I should even try to fold laundry. :/ I want to clean more but I doubt that will happen. I'm kind of tired now. Today was one of those pretty days where I could open my blinds and crack open the window for air. :)

Yance and Sarah are doing really awesome art/multimedia projects this weekend. I can't wait for the finished products. Yance is working on claymation and Sarah is drawing.

Tomorrow begins my week of hell. Well, not really. I'm just adding 17 hours to my schedule. I need to make sure I get well-rested. After Tuesday, I'm good. I shouldn't stress out so much about presenting my lesson plan. It's amazing and awesome so why worry, right?

Wake up time for Monday: 7:30am to go to the health center
I also should get ready and go print stuff out at school

Achy breaky

1) Saturday was cool. That afternoon, Yancey and I wanted to eat a late lunch, which ended up being our dinner of course. We had no idea where to go but a few texts and calls and we got Liz, Emily, Alex, and Stephen to join us. Yancey got no calls back from his friends. Okay, he did, but they were all working. Psh. We ate at Early Girl Eatery. I was so hungry and so fulfilled by my Sweet Potato Black Bean cakes. Yeah, weird but absolutely yum. I also realized I hate biscuits and gravy, but I enjoy biscuits with jam. Their food was delish and the place was cute. It's on the best street in Asheville, Wall Street. If every road looked like that, we'd be living in England! Haha.

From the tiny storefront, you could never tell that their dining room was so large!

Look at their glasses! So vintage-like.

After dropping Liz and Em off, we did homework till late. I didn't realize it was so late. Jessica came over and Yance, Jessica, Emily, and I went out at 11pm. We headed to Hannah's because they haven't been there. Then to Thirsty Monk to meet Conor and his friends Liz and Bron (weird name, cool guy). I always get a little tipsy at Thirsty Monk. I love that place. This is recent since I only started liking beer in November.

2) Last night, Sunday, we watched the WEC fights. Faber won as I mentioned. Dan Lauzon won the night before and I finally got to watch it online. Because we don't have cable, we went over to Sarah's dorm with Yancey's TV (not the huge one but a fairly large 30" one) and Chinese food. It was like a quick party. Haha.

3) Yoga and aerobics kicked my butt today. My back hurt after. I feel good, but it hurts and I'll feel it tomorrow. The chick at Subway's hates her job for sure. I'm forcing myself to stay up because it's fun to do that, but I'm rather sleepy. Oh yeah, I went to Subway instead of somewhere else I was supposed to go because well, I'm annoyed by a certain someone and no one else wanted to come with. Actually, because I didn't want to go, my friends didn't go.

My unfinished lesson plan (due next Tuesday but I have a meeting with my prof this Wednesday) is already 6 pages with just the input. I don't even know if it's possible to get all that stuff done.

My teaching strategies are done. Tomorrow is going to suck. I'm waking up in less than 5 hours to go to a meeting from 8-9am then I plan on coming home for a nap till noon. I will make sure to cut my student teaching application and go over my six teaching strategies so I can teach them to my classmates. Crap, that's a lot. I'll need the nap. Maybe? No no, I won't take a nap. I'll just drown myself in ice coffee tomorrow.

Good idea: take laptop to school, do homework, go to class till 8:30pm, and get drinks with friends at TGI Fridays. I will then promptly go to bed when I come home. Ahhh, we'll see. I may really need the nap. I haven't slept for only 5 hours in FOREVER. Maybe I have when I sleep at 5am and wake up at 10am. Huh... quite true. Let's do it!

I love this web site/project and wish I loved someone more than _____.

Well, this is good response to that (above):

Fave UFC fighters

Since I wrote down my favorite WEC fighters, I thought I should put up my favorite UFC fighters. In no particular order and not all of them with pictures...

Nate Diaz, there's something about him I just like (2nd from left)

Rob Emerson especially after his fight and killing of Manny G. but then laughing at his nickname, "The Saint"

Roger Huerta is the poster boy for the UFC
Joe Lauzon (on the right with his dad and brother Dan!)

Watching Brock Lesnar
Cole Miller (right) and his brother Micah (on the left), who isn't part of the UFC

BJ Penn (on the right with J-Lau on the left)

GSP (Georges St-Pierre)
Joe "Daddy" Stevenson
"Handsome" or "Mildly Attractive" Matt Wiman (on the right)

Others I can't seem to find/affiliate with anyone:
War Machine (formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver)

Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez (between Nate Diaz and Jake Shields)

Micah Miller (see above with brother Cole)
KJ Noons

Jake Shields (on the left and Nate Diaz on the right)

Dan and Urijah in one weekend!

I missed the Dan Lauzon fight last night. Yancey didn't tell me about this. Though I probably should've known. :( Watch it here! It might take a minute though. :/ He got kicked in the groin three times. Some people thought he was just being a baby, but though his opponent got 2 points taken off, the points became irrelevant when D-Lau submitted him. :)

Affliction is newer. They have signed some cool fighters. D-Lau was somewhat presented unfairly on the TapOut series so he now fights for Affliction.

I've never seen this video of D-Lau and his brother Joe. Love them!

Tonight was the rematch between Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver. Faber won easily. Though I think the guy who did the post-fight interview was a jackass for asking Pulver if he thought he was still "relevant" in the game. :/

The other awesome fight was between Jamie Varner and Don Cerrone. I thought Varner was hotter/Jake Shields. :/ Well, he wasn't yet I still wanted him to win. Though "The Cowboy" had a head of steel. He was hit so many times and had bubbles forming but never gave up. He was even more aggressive. Varner actually got kneed in the head and the fight was stopped at the beginning of the fifth round. The fans were upset with Varner and booed him for not continuing. We thought the fight was fantastic and they were both extremely tired. Varner wanted to continue fighting I'm sure. He cried and it was sad.

Interviews from the fights are up here.

My favorite WEC fighters:
1) Urijah "The California Kid" Faber

2) Carlos Condit despite his ever erect and pink nipples...

3) "Razor" Rob McCullough whom Peter met and changed his tires for!

And... I don't like him but he has the coolest name, Richard Crunkilton, Jr.

The Iceman!

Last day in California. I'll blog about it later.

I met Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell! (Terrible picture though!)

:(

Today and tomorrow then I'm gone...

I'm going to write down things I must do in my offline notebook. I swear by these cute little composition books from Target. Best thing ever. Anyways, it will include my spring schedule and all the amazing, time-consuming things I'm doing and reminders for a brand-new me. Haha.

Today. Besides the above, I have no idea what I'm doing. Maybe eat and pack.
Tomorrow. Lunch with Kim, seeing Chuck Liddell at 7pm, hang out with Albert and Peter, pack, leave at a ridiculous hour on Saturday morning.

The Iceman is coming...

For those of you who don't know, I'm a big MMA fan. No, I didn't get to watch it last night. :( But because I didn't, I went to Barnes and Noble where I found out that on January 9th, when I'm still here, Chuck Liddell will be signing his book! I'M GOING! :)

I wanted to read this one but they were out of stock at my Barnes and Noble in Asheville. Instead, I psychoanalyzed Randy Couture and his bio, Becoming the Natural for my personality paper. Yance thinks Liddell is cooler and apparently, he parties a lot.

I think I'll have to add a MMA/sports section to my book collection...

Speaking of books, I also added a book to my wish list after my latest visit to the store:
The Gentle Art of Domesticity

Reading The Friday Night Knitting Club, which I'm more than halfway through, I now want to knit again. I suck at it. I'm slow and I get upset because I'm terrible. It's not soothing, but I love seeing the completed project. Maybe I'll try again? Oh yeah, Knit Two is out just as I'm reading the first one! :( Anyways, I'll update on knitting and domesticity... :)

*P.S. happy mundane found Umbra Loft at Target!
