I need to take more pictures.

Yesterday, I woke up and went to lunch at Kubo's with Kris. It's pretty much the same as Zen Sushi since they share the same owner except downtown and possibly a bit pricier. In any case, I had the Boston and bagel rolls, both my fave.

We decided yesterday would be a great pool party day so I picked up some ham, turkey, cheese, lettuce, bread, fruit, etc. from Ingles (and Johnny who sliced our deli meat for us). I bought Yance some food and then we went to the gym. I think I'm working myself on the elliptical too hard. My right hip hurts. :( But according to my scale, I lost weight since yesterday. It's that swimming we did. At around 8pm, we went over to Liz's to swim. It was just me, Yance, Kris, and Jordan with some food and beer. Tucker joined us after. It was fun until we got out and Tucker threw me into the pool. Like, he picked me up and took me over to the pool. Luckily, I survived. We went back, drank tea and beer and decided to go to Grey Eagle. Well, actually, freaking Tucker wanted us to go because this girl he's been hanging out with. There was a cover and we couldn't go in anyways because Jordan decided to pee on the tour van and Kris was drinking in the parking lot.

We called up Woody and headed to their place, sat on their porch, and hung out, playing beer pong. The birthday girl roommate and I almost beat the champs in a chick vs. champs game. We were up 1 cup to 4 cups, but we just couldn't make the last cup! :( Darn. In a lame roomies (Nate and Yance) vs. awesome roomies (Woody and I) game, the awesome roomies lost twice. It was okay though because we had more fun. :) Overall, great freaking night. I took the guys home, got them some Taco Bell, and Jordan and I watched "Gran Torino." Though he stayed up, I fell asleep and randomly woke up to make comments. Haha.

I need some new undies. Maybe a trip to Victoria's Secret or Aerie tonight after the gym.

I'm watching "Californication" and must say, I need to work on my body more. Every chick in this show is way pretty even if they're old.

A bright spot in this boring day

Awhile back, I talked about baking Jewel Heart Cookies a la The Jewels of NY. Here's how they turned out.
The jam was delish but not gorgeous. Also, I decided that I would not use the same colors because I didn't want to mix colors or buy sanding sugar. Instead, I used Wilton's Sparkle Gel. I love this stuff. I had used it for Thanksgiving too.

I also made some chicken lettuce wraps in my attempt to get healthier. :) Chicken, green peppers, green onions, and mushrooms.
Today Kris and I woke up and went to Johnson City, an hour drive, to get Indian food at Sahib. We gorged on their lunch buffet. I love Indian food but had to account for the eating later. So, I worked out a little more (15 minutes of my workout video, 25 vigorous minutes on the elliptical, more weights, 50 dance moves (from Self magazine), and about 10 sit-ups haha). I'll need to work on doing more sit-ups for sure. I also did this to account for this smoothie from Keva Juice. Also, had some chips and a razzarita instead of dinner.

Tonight was pretty crappy though. Tucker, Liz, and Kris came over and we went over to Tucker's. He had a set of chairs from a bowling alley/laundromat (love them!) and this mid-century modern buffet his bro got from an estate sale. Then, without Tucker, we went to Usuals for a drink. It was rather boring and everyone fell asleep. :/ Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Kris, Liz, and I are going to lunch, hike, swim, gym, and picnic somewhere in there.

Oh yeah, no Atlanta/Athens because Stephen is training for his new job as a youth counselor for the Dept of Juvenile Justice... :/ Well, maybe sometime soon.

Recap of Monday-today

Monday, Bonnie called and we all wanted to do something. This something included more than 10 people in the end at Tolliver's Crossing for 35 cent wings (no purchase required) and beers. Afterwards, we headed to Usual Suspects. It was a mix of really awesome people. I had a couple of drinks and then a tiramisu cake that Liz enticed me with... mmm.

Yesterday, I dragged my dad shopping for 5 hours. We went to the Stir Fry Cafe. The Stir Fry sushi was good, but the rest of their food was ick. The soups were not right nor was the fried rice. The fried rice was awkward - no peas, no carrots just some browned rice. In any case, we bought a ice shaver for my shaved ice ventures, new silverware, and measuring cups/spoons. My dad thought I was crazy because I went 5 hours to 5 different stores to find them. I wanted vintagey ones with the right shape. I ended up buying orange measuring cups and blue measuring spoons that I will promptly take pictures of. When I came back, Yance was at work and then... see last post.

Today, after searching for phones and getting everyone out of the house (they crashed), I fell back asleep till 2pm. When I woke up, Yance, Alex, Tucker, and I went to lunch at... my fave, Papas and Beer. :) We got back and I slept even more (another hour). Alex gave us some info on some of the people at the party last night. They're cool I think, but we might want to check some pawn shops. After "American Idol," I'm going to watch the midnight showing of "Terminator."

My first keg (and 3 lost cell phones)

I've been to parties with kegs, but this is my first keg shared with Kris, Jordan, and Andrew. We were having dinner, Dos Equis/PBRs/Gaelics, and Jägerbombs at Westville Pub (also my first trip to Westville Pub in West Asheville). The food was subpar. I had a burger (should have gone to Fuddruckers or as they suggested later, Burgermeister's), Kris had a philly cheese steak with too much mayo?, Jordan had a fish and chips (didn't even get his garlic bread), and Andrew had actually delicious-looking mildly-hot BBQ chicken tenders.

Well, as we are talking, Jordan brings up the idea of a keg so we text some people and grab the keg. We have less than 1/4 of it left so Kris is coming over in a little bit to finish it off so I can go get my $75 back. One of the crappiest things about the night was that in the end, 3 people lost their phones. We have never had anyone steal things from our house. There were new people. Yance, Kris, and I talked about this - you need to keep your phone on you. Jordan's iPhone is gone, which really worries me because I saw it late last night when I picked up my laptop from the basement. I placed it on top of the speaker and never saw it again. At that point in the night, we only had people we knew there.

ffffound!

I'm glad my new friends came out to play. No girls though (that one in the picture is just me)... sorry guys. :/

I did a keg stand too. Two random guys and Jordan helped with this event - it was pretty fun.

A couple of them fell asleep... I thought this was cute. The other guys thought I was weird. Now if they were naked too then I would have to leave the room.

Don't fall asleep with your shoes on.

They decided to wrestle downstairs and upstairs. Jordan's bloody knees on our carpet were easier to clean than Yancey's freaking red Kool-Aid. He does not get to drink red stuff again.

Bad fights, good people.

Fight night! Photos!

Okay, it was a crappy fight night. Anderson Silva fought badly. It was boring. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell lost. :( Mildly unattractive Matt Wiman lost. He is now mildly unattractive because he has weird hair and a beard.

Today I want to be... a wedding planner.

It's almost 3 A.M. We just got home 30 minutes ago. We brought Jess with us after going down to Tolliver's Crossing in West Asheville. I had them bring Yance a LIT, but they gave us a top shelf one! SERIOUSLY?! Yance does not need an expensive drink. Geez. I got to see my dear friends a little wasted. We stayed there for awhile because we love bartenders. By we, I mean Jess. Anyways, that was just tonight. My whole day was filled with... fun and no work.

I did do a bit of work early on. I just have one more piece to finish actually. In any case, I'm hoping to get my lit review, etc done by Wednesday. I think I can because it's not hard and I don't need a week to finish it. Though I need to finish my unit plan soon. The bones and meat are on my unit plan. I just need clothes. Haha. Don't you love my metaphor.

Instead, I went to Alex's where we proceeded to Earth Fare and made sushi with avocado and salmon. Yum yum yum. I love her place and her family. It reminds me of California. The neighborhood is cute and Alex is my soulmate. Haha. Seriously, we love sushi together except she likes fermented soybeans. Ew. We decided to get Liz some lilies. We went to Alex's place of work, Blossoms, where they were making prom things. They had Billy balls! I saw them in this picture from Making It Lovely and couldn't believe this adorable boutonniere she was making with Billy balls!

Also, Blossoms was just gorgeous. I want to get married now so that I can buy flowers and do all sorts of crafty things. I say crafty things because we went to the big Michael's and missed Liz's dance concert. :( The lilies are sitting on the table outside. Alex persuaded me to remake cards for my 16 students because the ones I made (not moo cards) were lame. They were. :( My new ones are awesome though. I have to finish them.

Okay, time to read InStyle, Vibe, Glamour, and architectural history brochures that all came in the mail today... or go to bed. :)

My day went as follows:

(This post and how it was written was inspired by a scene in "Marley and Me." I imagine it being read in that way so watch the movie!)

Today was a sunny day. My professor decided on a late meeting so I slept in. I went to the senior cookout where I ate with my roomie, Aaron, and others on the quad. I redid my note taking strategies and helped me in the lab. I went to my meeting. I went to class.

Alex canceled on us because she went to celebrate her mom's sex ed bill passing through the House. Michael and I decided to go to the new Papas and Beer. A few people were supposed to come with us but did not. I went home.

I went back downtown with Alex and Michael to the Chocolate Lounge. I asked the cute chef/cook guy behind me what he was getting and to help me decide between a lavender creme brulee, tiramisu, or Highland Stout cake. He chose the Highland Stout cake and he was getting the French lavender truffle to go. Alex tried bacon ice cream. She said it wasn't bad.

We waited for Jesse. We all sat in a mini van listening to music and talking. We watched some guy pee. He asked us if we would mind if he stole a sign. He tried to yank it out of the ground. His two friends got out of the car to help. Alex made Jesse scream at two guys she thought she knew.

I went home. We had people over. I made Michael come over. I am just getting in bed. I was supposed to get work done. :(

Remember: Do work tomorrow and make sure to deposit my check.

Too much weekend?!

Okay, so I suppose I should post about my weekend.

Friday Jess came over, Cassie was over, and we went to Hooters for dinner. I had medium breaded wings. I love wings! Medium is NOTHING though. Our waitress was one of my former students' baby mama. Haha. We picked up Daniel and went to meet up with some friends over at Bier Garden. It was okay. We came back, got quick massages from our resident masseuse, and watched Dexter.

Oh yes, I spent like 4 hours during the day at all the craft stores, fabric stores, and general stores finding felt, buying paper, and decorating cards that aren't as cool as my moo cards.

(I hadn't seen my drinking pal in TWO weeks. He was in Downtown Waynesville??? Very rednecky.)

Saturday Liz, Alex, and I went over to Corner Kitchen for a late lunch. Their corn and crab chowder soup with a warm biscuit was delish. I was pretty full after that but we had our meals! Eastern style BBQ, which I learned is vinegar based, is better than Western/tomato-based. It smells different though.

Afterwards, we sewed. Well, Liz sewed while Alex and I cut out letters for the mass of 14 pillows. They look great. We bought felt glue and poly-fil (5 lb boxes for Liz and I) to fill up my pillows and this one huge me-sized body pillow she made. Yay for crafters.

Bonnie and Jess came over and we, with Yance, picked up Erin and headed to Jess's favorite spot, Asheville Brewing. Her crush works there so we spent about an hour and a half there. I kept annoying the guy when he walked by instead of our waitress cause who else was going to do it? I'm good, but let me say, I would've gotten in the car and run over some people had I been in Jess's shoes. Maybe I'm changed now that I haven't really liked anyone in forever.

Sunday Okay, so I woke up thinking of doing work. Well, I have done ONE of the things I wanted to do. I did quite a bit I suppose, but it didn't seem sufficient. In any case, Jess had done some of the dishes so our house doesn't smell anymore! Yay! I think the best gift to get me is surprising me by doing our dishes. I sewed up some pillows that I had finished stuffing, but I still have many more.

I decided I wanted a manicure. I rarely get them. I met up with Alex and failed because it was Easter so nothing was opened. :( We went to Hands On Spa. My nails look awesome now. They look healthy and bright pink. When she cut my cuticles, she ended up having a HUGE clump of dead skin on the scissors. It was cool like a Biore pore strip. Haha.

We waited 15 minutes for Alex's mildly attractive friend to find his underwear (don't ask) to come and get ice cream at The Hop with us. I did this instead of going to dinner with Liz and Em. Hey, you can't hate me for making this decision 'cause next week, I have plans to go to Hooters! As you can see, I LOVE going to Hooters on fight nights. Hooters on a non-fight night like Friday was dull. CAN'T WAIT!

Celebration!

Because I planned to move...

Here is my house. Obviously, I don't love it anymore.

But I long decided to move from my college town of Asheville to my next destination so I made a few changes to the house but not many. They have also been quite recent.

My favorite - I love the wall color in our dining room and the fabric art. I made the frames myself with really cheap wood and a staple gun. The fabric is from Ikea and though it's weird, it works perfectly with the wall.

I don't mind this much. I just don't really like the bathroom anyways. The color is super bright and it was really hard to paint. Paint does wonders though doesn't it?

I love this. It's my most ingenious decoration with some electrical tape and see-through colored folders. Actually, I found it on Curbly.

Our backsplash is blackboard. Our friends enjoy the fun. We didn't want red in the kitchen.

My room also has this faux wood strip with circular (yellow and black) hoops as decoration. I have no idea where the photos of the house went! :(

I bought this set from Ashley Furniture but my roomie has a set too so mine sits in the basement. I have since sold the chaise. To the right in this picture, I bought canvas and let our friends paint all over it. Yance hung it up and it splits up our gigantic basement. He also bought the rug from Ikea. It's good for parties in addition to a salvaged air hockey table/beer pong table.
(I don't like this set anymore thus, I am trying to sell it.)

I love some of these ideas. I love painting (knitting stresses me out cause I'm no good at it). Give me some more!

Here's a DIY to get my fix. It's not a big one but it's fun and useful. :)
