Summer jams

"Summer Girls" LFO
New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer
Since that summer

Do you remember your favorite summer songs? Yes yes, this is one of mine. I know, I'm lame. Others include (but not limited to):
  • "Beautiful Girls" Sean Kingston
  • "The Sweetest Escape" Gwen Stefani
  • "My Love" J.T.
  • "Summer Love" J.T.
  • "Promiscuous" Nelly Furtado

I'm ready for the summer! Here is what I'm planning to get done.
  • AVID Summer Bridge tutoring
  • Work of some sort?
  • New York City to visit Andrew
  • Going with Stephen to Syracuse or visiting him
  • Canada with Stephen (when I visit him)
  • Philly is quite close to NYC apparently
  • Boston? (when I'm in the Northeast anyways)
  • Going with Liz to Vanderbilt/Chapel Hill/Brandeis (if so, that will be when I go to Boston)
  • Raleigh, NC - I've been in NC for 4 years!
  • Visit GA Tech
  • Austin, TX somehow?
  • Savannah, GA
  • Charleston, SC
  • All of this requires saving money or dipping into my funds. :/
Indian food is too expensive. I dropped over $20 + tip for food. Instead, I'm making food. I was doing so well with making chicken parm and eating it for two meals. I like making food myself and without someone in the kitchen with me. More Julie cooking adventures to come...

My work is getting done very very slowly, and I have to go to my observation school tomorrow. :( They have a test I believe.

Doesn't this room remind you of summer with all its cheeriness? I'm all for yellow in the bedroom.

Reality TV and other forms of entertainment

Yelling in the A.M. does not make for a very cheery wake-up call. My family has quite a few issues and I'm not getting into them. I stay in the room to catch up on two episodes of "Real Chance of Love," which I was always thought was "Real Chance at Love." Oh well, I guess it doesn't even need to make grammatical sense. Rabbit was my favorite, but she's out. :( You can read Bourgy, a blog "where smart people dumb down!" :) They keep me up on all the reality TV drama.

I haven't watched "Bromance" or "The City" or any spin-off from "Laguna Beach." Actually, my reality TV sphere includes the spin-offs of "Flavor of Love" though I stopped watching the original after the second time around. I watched "I Love New York" twice and "I Love Money." Since it's the holiday, I caught up on "Real Chance of Love," but my other fave isn't a VH1 show, it's a SpikeTV show called "The Ultimate Fighter." :) Yup. We haven't had cable at the Asheville house so I've indulged here whenever possible. I've missed out though.

What else do I watch on TV? "CSI," "I Love Lucy," etc. I haven't even started "Gossip Girls" nor did I watch "Sex and the City." My cousins were watching "Prison Break" when I visited and it wasn't shabby. I just never have the discipline to watch shows especially if they involve a long, drawn out story and thus, lots of attention.

Anyways, I thought I'd update on my TV watching. Nothing good has been on HGTV by the way. I guess it's off-season for TV shows. :(

This morning I voted for VH1's 2008 Scandalist Awards to reminisce about the year. Here are my votes:

  • Sexiest: Scarlett Jo, Marissa Miller, Megan Fox, Eva Mendes
  • Curviest: Kim K., Coco, Jodie Marsh, Beyonce
  • Fugliest: Perez Hilton, PCD, Brooke Hogan, Katie Holmes
  • Cutest Kid: Valentina, Kingston Rossdale, Shiloh, Suri
  • Douchiest: Miley, Adnan Ghalib, Michael Lohan, Spencer & Heidi
  • Funniest: Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Sarah Palin
  • Boringest: Jonas Bros, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Rachel Bilson
  • Sluttiest: Angelique, John Mayer, Chuck Bass, Aubrey O'Day
  • Freshest: Blake Lively, Karissa & Kristina Shannon, Sarah Palin, Britney

I enjoyed most mainstream songs from 2008, but there are quite a few songs I could never quite get into
  • Mariah Carey - "Touch My Body"
  • T.I. feat. Rihanna - "Live Your Life"
  • Anything Beyonce has put out this year, seriously!

...and it's time for MIA's "Paper Planes" to retire!

I still haven't watched "Dark Knight" or read/watched "Twilight." I am considering catching up on some TV shows like "Prison Break" after seeing an episode, testing out "Gossip Girls" to see what all the rave is about, and maybe catching up on "Desperate Housewives," maybe. I can't seem to get into the loop, but I like action and I think "Prison Break" can deliver!

Found: Lei in Asheville

So Alex totally got me connected to a lei. Hah. She works at Blossoms and they were amazing enough to make a lei for $30. Alex then sent me this picture of her mom with the lei on. She delivered it to Thomas Wolfe where graduation was taking place. Then Liz, who was ushering, had to stop Conor and tell him to wait after for his graduation gift. I bet it was strange as this stranger came up to you with a lei. Hah. But I was so excited and hopeful that it all worked out that I woke up at 8:45am PST to make my calls.

As for the rest of today, I'm going to get a few things: eyelash curler and face cleanser kit. I have a ton of things I want though so I'm consulting my wish list. My mom and I might go to Vegas... weird to go to Vegas with my mom, but that's okay.

Top of my list:
Juicy Couture Pave Hearts Clutch (Rose) $125
State Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver (California) $75 (code: 25DAY)

Philosophy The Miracle Worker $85

"Chasing Pavements" by Adele was playing on VH1 when I fell asleep last night.

I've made up my mind,
Don't need to think it over,
If I'm wrong I am right,
Don't need to look no further,
This ain't lust,
I know this is love but,

If I tell the world,
I'll never say enough,
Cause it was not said to you,
And that's exactly what I need to do,
If I'm in love with you,

Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If I knew my place should I leave it there?
Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

I'd build myself up,
And fly around in circles,
Waiting as my heart drops,
And my back begins to tingle
Finally could this be it

Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If I knew my place should I leave it there?
Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If I knew my place should I leave it there?
Should I give up,
Or should I just keep on chasing pavements?
Should I just keep on chasing pavements?

Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If I knew my place should I leave it there?
Should I give up,
Or should I just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere
