What are you doing for Valentine's Day?

Last night, Kyle came over and Jessica came over. We went downtown to Thirsty Monk to meet up with Robbie/Svitlana and Jeff and his friend Jared. Of course my favorite drinking buddy Conor and his friend Bron went too. We wanted to go to Outback, but that didn't end up happening. Instead, we went to Asheville Brewing down the street.

Today, we called up Bonnie and went to Tupelo Honey - Yancey's first time! Kyle took pictures for his photography class so we accompanied him downtown. We went to Woolworth Walk and though we didn't get to enjoy their soda fountain, I saw some great photos/paintings/sculptures I'd love to have. I've been searching for some artwork for later use. :)

Not-doing-work time

Instead of working on my paper, I've been watching some shows and movies.

Kristian Kordula from "College Road Trip" is gorgeous. I'm renting "The Weekend" because he's the main character. :)

Lots of updated posts this morning! Maybe because it's a snow day (day classes canceled) complete with sunshine and blue skies! Yay! I woke up at 8:30am to e-mail everyone that there wouldn't be any tutoring and also found out I'd have no classes. Normally at this time, I would just be done with tutoring and off to school.

I love the new floors here. I'm usually a fan of the white hexagon tiles, but these black floors are fantastic!

I finished reading that leftover chapter I forgot for last night's Brit history class. I love British history and how they use such fun words like "slumming" to describe Henry VII's marriage to a woman with a commercial trade lineage. It tempts me to read another chapter. However, I think I'll take advantage of the snow day. Besides sleeping in, I'm finishing America at Home and reading other books on the floor next to my bed. :)

With my snow day, I should probably also start my paper on the book Black Like Me.

Snow day, please.

Sarah and I were peeking out the window at the little children playing out in the snow tonight. I'm not going to brave it out there and take pictures though cause I like the warmth inside.

My class got canceled tonight after 30 minutes. The dean was going class-to-class to let us know. I'm happy because after working on my lesson plan, I neglected to read a chapter for the class and the documents. :/

My lesson plan, by the way, went good. It can always be better, but I think for what it was - 20 minutes, it was fantastic. :) I was also glad I was even awake enough for it because I definitely took a 1-hour nap beforehand, once I finished tutoring and had a Lean Pocket.

My group was super nice. I was somewhat scared because one of my classmates teach at the high school as a lateral entry teacher already. I found it less nerve wracking than I expected. He had us read the Grimm's Brothers' Cinderella and an Egyptian Cinderella story. It was okay, but I didn't really know the terms like "exposition" and "denouement" to find them in the first story. The other one was fun. The woman had us draw a flower from our mind, draw fake flowers she put in front of us, and finally, draw the fake flowers without looking at our paper. I'll post them up ASAP. I liked the activity and thought she had a flawless lesson.

Tutoring was also pretty good. I went to the middle school and was afraid because at the high school, I'm always greeted with smiling faces and screams. Though I still had a great time at the middle school with the 8th graders. Furthermore, I was still greeted with smiles and "Julie!" when I got to my freshmen. Most of my seniors were absent so I didn't get to see them, but I was happy to see some of them. :)

I made it up the hill tonight! I was stuck halfway up the hill as Yancey plowed through somehow. Well, I decided that since I was halfway on the road and halfway on the side, I would just get back on the road especially when I tried to get to the side and was stuck. :/ I made it though and am super proud of myself. Even Yancey was impressed.

Jessica was on her way over and didn't make it up so I met her halfway to help her carry things and bring her gloves. Basically, since we couldn't go to Old Europe tonight, we're having a party over here. Haha. Speaking of Old Europe, they're moving! I found out today when I was getting tons of calls about whether or not the city schools would be closed tomorrow.

I had an amazing dream last night/this morning that involved meeting and knowing my two fave fighters. :) Haha. That was great, but I had to wake up for a tough week.

I hate having to miss my morning 10th graders. :/ I'm going to see them as much as possible when I'm not observing WHEN I FINALLY GET TO. Geez, I'm not going to delve into my stress over not getting e-mails back yet. I'm waking up early tomorrow to call the school and ask for him.

I subscribe to this belief. I hate waiting and depending on other people.

Today was hectic. I am negative for TB! Haha. Then off to tutoring where I was scattered everywhere. My kids missed me and I missed them. :) I really am going to be sad that I have to miss my favorite group! :( I finally gave one of my kids a card I made him for Christmas. He got one because he asked and I had promised.

Food. Change for yoga and aerobics. Go to race and ethnic relations. (I really need to talk more.) Yoga. Aerobics. Death/nap. Practice lesson.

Tomorrow - Call teacher. Tutoring with cutie(s). Food and rest. Lesson presentation. Class. Old Europe for Ladies' Night.

Speaking of cuties, I'm fine with Valentine's Day. I've never had anyone on the day so unlike some, I'm used to spending the day alone or with friends. Yancey seriously suggested secret Valentines like secret Santa. Haha.

I was invited to this shindig of weird people whose host dislikes Obama. Seriously, do I look like I would dislike Obama too? The invite included a tidbit about how we'd be sent off to another table for professing our Obama love. Well, regardless of your political views, that doesn't even need to be mentioned. So hell no I'm not going. I'd rather stay home alone, which is something I'd prefer on V-Day.

I also was so stressed today, I finally said NO FREAKIN' WAY to a "reunion." We've moved on. I don't even talk to those people anymore/most of them. Why reunite with people I'm not quite fond of? I didn't want to be the only one not attending (no set date yet so most people are "maybe attending") but decided that I'm going to be a bitch. At least, I'll be a "real" bitch.

I finished "Dead Like Me," and it's all over. :( Now to watch some "CSI" I suppose. I tried "Weeds" and even an episode of "Charles in Charge" because Scott Baio was a cutie when he was young.

I watched "The Ultimate Gift" the other night and love Drew Fuller. I hated him in the few minutes of "Blonde Ambition" that I watched though. Next in my mail, "Reaper" with Rick Gonzalez.

I NEED to sleep and for Wednesday, I MUST TALK IN MY SOCIOLOGY CLASS!

A little brighter today

Last night's fights at Hooter's were devastating. No more fights for awhile cause I get stressed out and heartbroken. Not only did Nate Diaz lost to Fabio (in a pretty good fight), BJ Penn just laid there as GSP beat him for four rounds! :( My hair also smelled like smoke all last night. :/

I want food. Good food. I may go over to Jessica's where her apartment complex has a little Super Bowl party with food. I don't really care for the Super Bowl or its ads.

My lesson plan on demand is done! :) I just have some reading for British history that I will save for later. I was also smart enough to clean my room and do laundry this afternoon. It's not done yet though, and I'm wondering if I should even try to fold laundry. :/ I want to clean more but I doubt that will happen. I'm kind of tired now. Today was one of those pretty days where I could open my blinds and crack open the window for air. :)

Yance and Sarah are doing really awesome art/multimedia projects this weekend. I can't wait for the finished products. Yance is working on claymation and Sarah is drawing.

Tomorrow begins my week of hell. Well, not really. I'm just adding 17 hours to my schedule. I need to make sure I get well-rested. After Tuesday, I'm good. I shouldn't stress out so much about presenting my lesson plan. It's amazing and awesome so why worry, right?
